WVSPORTTOURING WEBSITE RENEWAL

Postby Jamie on Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:13 pm

All,

The domain for wvsporttouring.com is coming up for renewal on 1/16/2009......the cost is $4.95/month.

We had a 3 year deal to start with so we've gotten off cheap so far.

Do we want to renew the domain? For how long? We can do it a month at a time ($4.95), a year at a time (~$60) all the way up to 5 years (~$300).

I don't mind paying for it but I don't want to foot the entire bill if we go beyond a 1 year renewal.

If you are interested in helping out PM or email Jeff and do the paypal thing or cash/check the next time on a ride with him.

I know times are tough for all of us financially but I think I can handle $60 for a year renewal.

If there's not much interest in the website (I have not touched it in a LONG time for updates and such) should we let the domain expire?

If there's anyone interested in running/updating the page please let us know, I'll hand over the keys so we can have an up to date presence on the web.

Jamie,

I switched all of mine over to godaddy a few years back and the discount is tremendous, I actually have 4 running now that I pay less than 7 per year on and simply use the domain as a forward(which is free also) to my isp server space. They even give me 250 free pop emails and etc. so check it out and let me know what you find. I will gladly help out with the site once I get settled in at At&t. I've been working insane hours for the last three months which explains why I've disappeared from the roadways.

Godaddy is the host now, we got a deal for 3years when we first started things up. I think when we did it the registration was something like $1.95/yr

I was wrong about the renewal fees.

I went ahead and did a 2 year renewal and maybe I'll get around to changing/updating/doing something to the website.

Anyone have any ideas?

Jamie,

Thanks for being an administrator on the site, if I haven't said so recently. I don't get why there is so little activity. I realize Jeffro is temporarily off the road till he gets a replacement bike, but no one is posting anything. To me this is a sad situation. We had some good exchanges going during the last couple of years, and I 'd like to hear what folks are into as the weather gets colder. There may not be as many ride stories, but instead we could discuss the latest bikes, accessories, etc. Maybe someone knows about a good deal on stuff others are interested in buying. How about that Harley XL1200 dirt tracker come street sweeper. That thing may have some appeal.

I've put a couple of hundred miles on the new SV in the last couple of days, and believe with some more seat time I'm going to love the thing. It turns in a lot quicker than the EX, and even though I haven't fiddled much with the suspension, it seems stable in the corners.

I don't have any suggestions for enhancements to the site right now, other than encouraging others to post. Heck I would be up for a ride during the winter as long as the temps are above freezing.

By the way, if you see this post Jeff, I still have my 500EX and the insurance is current if you want to go for a ride sometime this winter before you get another bike.
