I take it your fond of naked bikes now. I've always liked women on naked bikes and vice versa but liked the looks and feel of more faring when I'm riding. The 1250 is probably one of the most comfortable bikes that I have ever sat on. Never rode a bandit though or knew anyone w/ one. They always carried a negative stigmata when I was in my prime. The z1000 is a cool looking bike as is the bking but I really don't need the power even though I actually like the size and ride of a busa. I'm curious what toyotechwv thinks of the sv now after break-in and etc.?

I really do not need the power of a 1k but I do need the frame size and adj pegs, plus they are right @ the same price as a 750 now @ the shops. My previous bikes were 98 zx-9r and a 98 shawk vtr 1000f, which were larger framed bikes. The newer bikes are definitely shrinking which is what lead me to my conservative gsf this year after a few demo rides and feeling like a bear on a moped. I'm considering either the gix 1k or a Concours for next spring. Any input is appreciated.

Yeah, I just bought a 2007 GSXR 1000 after graduating from a 2003 SV1000 by way of low side. I put the mode switch on fast and haven't touched it since. (I think that is what the thottle is for. )

i like all bikes i just mentioned those three because of the ergo's and the poweer. I'm 6'2" 300+lbs so i'm just speaking from experience after sitting on them. i know a few huys in another group i'm in that have the z1000 and they all love them..
i have a 2002 gsxr1000 and i would say the mode selector would be nice. i have had the bike wheelie a few times when i have got on it and it spinsmore than i would like. jamie has mentions that i leave vlack marks through the turns when we are running them through the twisties at a quick pace. i'm sure if i could turn down the power a notch the power would be more usable..

Don't fall into the "I'm a big guy so I need a big bike" misconception.....

It really depends on what kind of riding you are planning on doing. The two bikes you mention are vastly different in their purpose. If you are planning on taking your better half on rides then by all means get the Connie....there's not much pillion room on the new sportbikes.

The bikes Jeff mention are excellent alternatives, the B-King is an awesome looking bike with a whale of a motor. If you look around you can find great deals on the Z1000.

Lastly, shop around, shop around, shop around. Don't forget craigslist for the surrounding states.

that was a really good article. my gsf is the first "slower" bike that I've owned and learned to make a slower bike go faster. this summers experience has been great for me as I actually experienced "the pace" out of forced necessity rather than raw power to compensate technique.

my other half actually has a 250 picked out for this spring as her 1st. Have you seen the new ones? Check them out on Kawasaki's site. Sorry, I'm under 5 post and can't post the link. Sharp looking ride, especially at $3500 if anyone else is interested in losing a passenger and gaining a rider this spring.

As for my personal ride, I'm really looking to increase the distance between the seat and bars as I ride with the grips in my hand running at an angle to compensate for that now. My riding style and "purpose" would be sport touring as I like the performance but never race or drag. I'm 6'2'' 235 with super long arms and legs and while I haven't caught a knee drag on this bike yet, I have jabbed my toe from my size 14 boot into the ground and screamed like a little girl as my leg vibrated with shock amidst a sharp turn a few times. A 600 i-4 would be ideal for me power wise but my knees do ride alongside the protruding curve in the tank. My next bike will ideally be at least a 5year bike and hopefully one that last like jeff's. I will check out every bike mentioned on here and be on the lookout for demo rides. I really do appreciate everyone's input because sitting only shows how a bike fits or rides with the kickstand down.
