7-7-07 RIDE TO THE STAR

Postby gsxrjeffro on Sun Jul 08, 2007 12:46 am

We had a good ride down to roanoke. it was pretty warm down there but the ride was nice. we also got to meet up and ride with mike "one of the newest members". we stopped in paintbank,

then made it up to the mill mountain star

where dave and geneva found out the hard way that a balck railing in 90+deg sun will burn your arm if you lay it directly on it

Hey Jeff, Dave & Geneva,

Just wanted you to know I had a blast on our ride yesterday. Even though you didn't know me from Adam, you made me feel right at home, and a member of your group. This is what I think of as the ideal riding esprit de corp. You guys(and girls) were just great. Dave & Geneva - we split before I had a chance to say how much I enjoyed meeting you.

Equally important is the fact that even though Jeff led us through the curves (and disappeared frequently) I was able to ride my own ride, and not feel like the slow guy holding everyone back. Jeff simply finished the "fun stuff" at his pace then slowed to make sure everyone came through OK. Jeff also demonstrated perfect ride guide etiquette by indicating road debris whenever we happened to encounter it.

All things considered, I don't see how the ride could have gone any better. I would certainly like to join you on another ride again soon--if you'll have me. By the way, my clock hit 409 miles when I pulled into my driveway. I was ready to dismount.

Thanks.

Mike

ps - I'll post a couple of pics I took soon after I figure out the best way to do it.

Jeff explains whether we need to go left, right, or down. :-)

and one more for you food lovers

Trust me. No one left hungry. In fact, we didn't want to leave at all. It was about 65 degrees inside, and around 100 degrees on the parking lot outside! By the way, the wraps at this place are very good. Ask Jeff about the hot sauce the next time you see him.
