7-21-07 SENECA/BRANDYWINE

Postby gsxrjeffro on Sat Jul 21, 2007 10:35 pm

WOW! I went solo today. i know most of you had plans but you guys / gals missed an awesome ride today.
i left the storage buildings around 9:15. i went down through hinton, alderson, lewisburg and stopped for gas in white sulphur springs. after my gas stop i ent up through greenbanl, bartow and stop at seneca rocks for a drink and to take some pics..

i thought i heard this guy yodeling when i zoomed in..

from seneca i went on over by germany valley overllook

after a stop at the overlook i went down through franklin then to brandywine to play on the mountain. i passed about 20-25 sportbikes on my way up. i was running it pretty fast until i hit some sand that had washed off the mountain and the front end slid out a little. so i slowed down a little. then i stopped at the top of the mountain at the WV/VA border and took some more pics at the overlook there.

after leaving brandywine i went back through franklin down to monterey then over to greenbanck. i stopped at the park in greenbank and took a couple pics of the radio telescope.
Image
on the way from greenbank to snowshoe i spotted the largest group of turkey vultures
Image
after taking a few pics of the turkey vultures i went on over to snowshoe and took a couple pics there
Image
after a couple pics there i went down to RT66 sub shop and had a 1/2lb hamburger, it was the best one i have had in a long time..
by this time i had put over 300 miles the gixxer already.. so i came back down 219 through lewisburg, alderson and hinton..
all in all today was a great ride but it would have been better if you all would have made the ride with me..

by the way look out for the deer. i had 4 close calls and seen about 15-20.. they are really bad this year..

Glad you were able to take a ride, and thanks for the pics and narration. If I couldn't be there, its the next best thing. The Germany Valley area is really awesome! Hope to ride with you this weekend, but the weather looks iffy right now--have my fingers crossed.

A visit might be great if its the weekend of the 6th. I'll be out of town the entire following week beginning Tuesday. Keep us updated if firm plans start to take shape.

well, looks like a couple more weeks delay. waiting for paperwork at the courthouse.

...for some reason they think my PP taxes should be twice as much as they were last year.

got re-assessed, waiting for the paperwork to go thru.

And now I still have to get my bike inspected!

The new motorcycle plates are kinda cool though.
